Hi OVC!!
Hope you are doing well, and enjoying the sunshine and warm weather in SA.
So, I had my first official class today :) Everything is fine and sorted, had no problems registering and I'm settling in nicely. I have great lecturers which I am so happy about, as it makes coming to class so much nicer!
I just wanted to write to you to say thank you for everything you have done for me the past couple of months. You have really been such a huge support. Without your advice, guidance and persistence I would not be in London right now.
Thank you for not giving up on me or my ability to make it, and going the extra mile every step of the way.
BPP is great and I couldn't be happier that I ended up here. This is going to be such an experience from which I am going to gain so much, not only education, but important life and career skills.
Below is a picture of the BPP Business School, where all my classes are. Thought you'd like to see how it looks :)
Have a great week, chat soon!
Lots of love,
Carien x
I started my studies at South Thames College in September 2011 and from the moment I arrived I knew I wanted to be here. I felt really safe from the time I stepped through the doors. The staff are approachable and very willing to help, whether you meet them in the corridors or make an appointment to see them in their offices.
STC has wonderful support available. There is an international office on the campus, who assists with any visa or issues related to your stay in the UK. The school office deals with any academic related questions or concerns you may have and student services is there for any extra mural activities you would like to participate in.
There are students from all over the world studying here, east really does meet west, and so you are able to make friends with people across all nationalities. In terms of studying, yes studying is hard, the course certainly does not come without its challenges, but the support you get from the lecturers and tutors is phenomenal. The facilities such as the library and common areas are fully available for us to use, so there really is no reason for us not to overcome our challenges when it comes to the studying.
I managed to get a job as a nanny with a family that does not live too far from the college, and shortly after my arrival, I moved into a house-share with other students, also studying at the college. The cost of our accommodation is GBP 100 per week and is within walking distance of campus. During the spring and the summer, there are quite a few long weekends and we always try to go away. We have visited Devon, Bournemouth and Brighton since being here.
I really am enjoying my time in the UK and would highly recommend this option to anybody looking to study and live abroad.
Regards,
Jacqueline Galolo
Dear OVC
I am doing great!!!! Living my dream and loving every minute of it.
I settled in quite well and adjusted so easily, it's an easy life...no stress, no worries. I’ve made soooo many friends already. Everyone has been friendly and helpful, I have my own small "family" in my new home. The housemates are awesome and we get along like a house on fire. They are young, but mature and responsible and I am very pleased about that.
Campus is really cool!!! Cambridge is stunning, the historical chapels and colleges and churches are majestically beautiful! When I walked into the city centre, I was overwhelmed, it was almost surreal, I felt like I was in an old English movie.....It was incredible!
Well, soon begins my city tour of London which is arranged by the campus. The university has tours and events every week for students so we get to travel more and see different parts of the country. Lectures began this week, but my 1st lecture commences on Thursday. I have quite an easy and relaxed timetable, with two days off in the week, so I am currently seeking part time employment. There are too many jobs in my career field, most of which require full time work, so it's a little more difficult to find part time employment in my working field. However, I am applying online and registering with recruitment agencies, one of which has been in contact with me and are doing their best to find me a suitable job.
All in all I am doing just fine, adjusted and adapted quite easily! Thank you for all your help in making this possible! I will definitely keep in contact as often as I can.
Jay
Hey OVC
Hope you’re good.
I’ve settled in very well. Moved into my studio apartment on Sunday, it's looking great! I now know how to read the map and it is easy as 123 lol.
We are starting our head start week tomorrow and already counting down the hours until tomorrow, but in the meantime I'm looking for a part-time job for the weekends.
So far everything is great and London is Awesome!! It is a beautiful place. Haven't gone site seeing, but I'll probably go Friday.
So far I’ve got no trouble with anything.
Regards,
Fundi
