MORE ON THE TIER 1 VISA:
Working in the UK as a Highly Skilled Tier 1 visa holder is a means to work full time professionally in any field in the UK for up to 5 years. The intentions of the scheme are to bring applicants to the UK who are young and have a good level of skill and relevant work experience. The programme is available to applicants who qualify on a points based assessment which is calculated according to their age, education, previous recent earnings, UK experience, English language ability and proof of maintenance funds. The Highly Skilled Tier 1 visa is for an initial 2 years which can be extended for a further 3 years allowing for permanent residence and UK citizenship thereafter. It is not necessary for individuals to have a job offer or sponsor in the UK. Unlike aTier 2 (work permit), Highly Skilled Tier 1 visa holders are not bound to a particular employer and can move freely between jobs and employers. Highly Skilled Tier 1 visa holders can work in the UK as salaried employees, as independent contractors, or even start their own businesses. A main applicant may invite one or more dependants to travel with them. They will need to qualify and apply separately. A dependant includes a spouse or partner (work is allowed) or a child under 18.

The application for Highly Skilled Tier 1 requires one application for both Highly Skilled Approval and Entry Clearance. Applicants need to visit a VFS application centre where biometric data collection is done. Applications are sent to the British High Commission in Pretoria. The application takes approximately 4-5 days. Before submitting an application, it is advisable to ensure that applicants have a passport valid for at least 2 years after their intended arrival in the UK. When you work with OVC you can be assured that your application is in good hands. Visa refusals are common - usually due to receiving advice from unqualified or inexperienced agencies, or due to individuals misinterpreting the strict application requirements. With OVC you will have peace of mind and will receive assistance with your travel arrangements, arrival assistance in the UK, opening a UK bank account and many other services offered by our OVC London office that will make your move to the UK easier, we will forward your CV to our UK recruitment partners at no charge.
