Teach Thailand
Description
Teaching in Thailand has become a very popular choice for South Africans wanting to explore international work opportunities. Our partner in Thailand, Island TEFL, has secured Teaching placements for both degree and non-degree holders in schools, all over Thailand. The minimum requirement for these positions is a 120 hour Island TEFL/OVC TEFL certificate in combination with a 6 day Thai Immersion & Culture training done in either Phuket or Bangkok, Thailand.

Even though living expenses in Thailand are generally very cheap, doing the TEFL course in Thailand can be a costly exercise. You will need to have enough money to support yourself financially during this time.

OVC has developed a very affordable option. We can now offer you a TEFL course here in South Africa, followed by a 6 day Thai Immersion & Culture Training course in Thailand, including a GUARANTEED job placement offer.

Program Details:
The world is your classroom! In just 120 hours you will be a qualified EFL/ESL teacher, prepared to begin your new adventure! OVC will guide you through the process of becoming an effective and confident teacher of the English language.  We give you loads of practice and assistance in the training centre, before you "Step onstage".  By this time, you will be feeling very confident and secure in your abilities to deliver a fun, stimulating and effective lesson to your students. The TEFL Certificate course has a very practical emphasis and deals primarily with the real skills and knowledge needed by teachers in the EFL/ESL classroom.

Salaries:
• Degree Holders: 30,000 to 35,000 Baht per month
• Non Degree Holders: 27,000 Baht per month

Eligibility
You do not need a degree to apply. A high school diploma and being a native English speaker from the US, UK, CAN, AUS, NZ, SA or IRE with a sense of adventure is all you need. Please note that if you are a native English speaker but do not have a university degree, or if you are a non-native fluent English speaker holding a degree, you cannot be guaranteed a job offer. Based on past experience, however, your odds of being offered a government school teaching position are still excellent. The demand for EFL teachers in Thailand far exceeds the supply.

PLACEMENTS for NON-DEGREE HOLDERS:
There are thousands of teachers in Thailand without university degrees. Although the preferred qualifications for a foreign English teacher would include both native-speaker status and a university degree, the MOE and Immigration understand that there is a shortage of such teachers and give some discretion to the school as to who they hire and the issuance of work permits and teacher licenses. Rural Thailand has many more teaching jobs than teachers available to fill them. Nothing is impossible when it comes to Thailand.
